Student Application Terms
Introduction
You can apply to SACOB for registration in a higher educational programme or occupational programme. We will use the term programme in these terms because it can include a course. These terms are applicable to you when you apply to SACOB for a higher education programme using a SACOB Application Form or when applying for an occupational programme.
Please refer to our trust centre (https://www.sacob.com/trust-centre) or our Online Classroom for a glossary, or our other terms or policies.
Disclaimer
We have not accepted you into a programme by virtue of you submitting your application. Your application will only be successful if you receive an acceptance letter from SACOB by the successful or unsuccessful date that is specified in the form, website or email.
Your application does not guarantee your acceptance into the programme.
We reserve the right to not accept any applications or to cancel any programme prior to it beginning.
Registration eligibility
We register students who are old enough under applicable law to enter into an agreement and are legally capable of concluding a transaction. If you are under 18 years old, you warrant that you have the consent of any person who is legally competent to consent to your decision to apply or that you have obtained legal status in another manner. The person may be your parent or legal guardian.
Applicant’s responsibilities
You are responsible for reading all information on applications and registration that SACOB has published or communicated.
You are responsible for proactive and timeous engagement with SACOB staff and full disclosure of relevant information that may impact your application or registration.
You are responsible for alerting SACOB in your application of any completed or partial prior learning or experience that may impact your application or registration.
You are responsible for providing accurate and up to date details and documents (including your delivery address, email address, and contact number). You will not hold SACOB or any external party or partner responsible should they or we reject your application or registration because you provided inaccurate or out of date information.
Should you receive acceptance of your application, you will be bound by our terms (including the Student Registration Terms), policies (including the Cancellation and Refund Policy), procedures and codes. It is your responsibility to read them. You can access them at https://www.sacob.com/trust-centre or in our Online Classroom. Otherwise, we will provide them to you on your request.
You cannot claim to be exempt from our policies, procedures, and codes due to an error in your Application Form, Registration Form, documentation submitted during application and registration or poor communication with us.
We will take reasonable action to inform you of upcoming programme, course, exam, registration, application, live classes and other relevant deadlines and schedules.
We will assist you, to a reasonable extent, in registering into occupational programmes and with external partners, institutes and parties before relevant deadlines. You can request registration support by sending written instructions to us. Registration is confirmed after a written confirmation is sent to you. We will not register a student without written instruction. This is to prevent registration and registration fee payment without your consent.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have fulfilled any programme or exam registration requirements prior to deadlines.
Programme allocation and availability
You may apply for any programme available on the website before the application closing date. We will only consider your application if you submit it before the application closing date.
Each programme has specific entry requirements and course requisites. For example, some courses in the Higher Certificate programme have prerequisite courses that you must pass before you progress to the next course. You are responsible for reading and understanding the programme entry requirements and course requisites before applying for a programme.
You may not change your higher education programme or courses during the term. All higher education programme or course changes must be requested between terms.
You may only register for a maximum of one higher education academic calendar or 120 credits at a time.
The specific programme only
We do not accommodate applications for any accredited or professional programmes or exams that are not a part of the SACOB syllabus, programmes, services and products when you apply for our programme.
Fees and payment terms
If you are accepted, you will receive options on how you would like to pay your fees in the Student Registration Form or through a SACOB representative. Your payment of fees will be subject to the Student Registration Terms.
Bursaries and loans
SACOB supports the national imperative to widen access to higher education and acknowledges that many people struggle to further their education due to financial constraints.
We are committed to providing payment plans (monthly debit orders) for tuition fees, in an effort to widen access to higher education in South Africa.
While we do not provide bursaries or study loans, nor are we obligated to, we can direct you to a third party financial institution to offer information on study loans. Please reach out to us for further information on study loans offered by selected third party financial institutions.
Please refer to the Institutional Management Policy, Student Registration Policy, and Financial Management Policy for further details. You can access them at https://www.sacob.com/trust-centre or in the Online Classroom. Otherwise, we will provide them to you on your request.
Higher education registration confirmation
You will receive a letter stating if your application is successful or unsuccessful by the successful or unsuccessful date specified in the form. If you have not received a successful or unsuccessful letter six weeks from the applications closing, you can assume we have not accepted you into the relevant programme.
If your application is successful, you will receive the Student Registration Forms that you must complete. You must complete the Registration Form by the registration closing date to confirm your registration.
You must provide the necessary documents by the registration deadline to secure your position.
If you wish to register, you must notify us as soon as possible. If the registration deadline passes and you have not completed the Student Registration Form, we will assume that you no longer wish to register, and your successful application will be withdrawn.
Occupational registration confirmation
You will receive an email or letter stating if your application is successful or unsuccessful. If you have not received a successful or unsuccessful letter six weeks from when you submitted your application, you can assume that the application was unsuccessful.
You are responsible for enquiring about your application status if the eight-week return time conflicts with relevant deadlines or schedules.
If your application is successful, you must complete the occupational programme registration requirements. This may include payments, submitting documentation or booking exams through the external institute, party or partner. To secure your position, you must provide the necessary documents by the registration deadline.
Should your application be successful, and you don’t wish to register, you must notify us as soon as possible. If the registration deadline passes and you have not completed the registration process, we will assume that you no longer wish to register, and we will withdraw your successful application.
Cancellation, withdrawal or refunds
Please refer to our Cancellation and Refund Policy for when you can cancel your participation in a programme. You can access them at https://www.sacob.com/trust-centre. Otherwise, we will provide them to you on your request.

You accept that by submitting your form, we may collect and process your personal information. For example, with the Higher Certificate programme we share with these authorities.
