Glossary

We use certain terminology, and we explain what they mean to help you understand our documents.

SACOB means the SACOB South African College of Business (Pty) Ltd. Also referred to as “we” or “us”.

Higher education programmes: SACOB is registered as a private higher education institution. Our Higher Education programmes are accredited and registered with SAQA and on the NQF. All teaching, learning, assessments or certification takes place through SACOB.

Occupational programmes: These programmes and courses are examined externally by examining partners such as CGISA, CIMA, ICB and AT(SA). SACOB is fully accredited to offer the teaching and learning aspect of these programmes, examinations take place via the examining partner. Registering and enrolling with SACOB does not equate to registration with the external examining partner. Students must complete the registration process as per the instructions of the external examining partner to finalise their registration.

Application means the act of you submitting:

  • to SACOB a completed SACOB Application Form and the documents SACOB requires requesting SACOB to register you in a higher education programme, or
  • to an external examining partner the forms and documents they require requesting registration in an occupational programme through SACOB.

Acceptance means to have SACOB declare your application as successful, and you receive a letter offering student registration:

  • in a SACOB higher education programme, or
  • to study an occupational programme through SACOB.

Registration means to successfully complete and return the Registration Form and required documentation prior to the registration deadline and to:

  • secure the student position in the SACOB higher education programme, or
  • successfully complete payments, registration forms and other requirements of an occupational institute to secure registration in an occupational programme through SACOB.

Programme means a collection of courses and can be either a higher education programme or an occupational programme.

Course means a single unit of learning or study.

Online Classroom means the SACOB Learning Management System (LMS).
