Cancellation and Refund Policy
Introduction
We understand that there may be instances where you wish to cancel your registration in a programme at SACOB. We will use the term programme in this policy because it can include a course. This policy applies to students (you) who wish to cancel or obtain a refund from SACOB.
Please refer to our trust centre (https://www.sacob.com/trust-centre) or our Online Classroom for a glossary, or our other terms or policies.
Cancellation period
You may cancel a programme we have registered you for and receive a refund of the programme fees (as we describe below), but only if you cancel within seven calendar days from when:
- we send you confirmation in writing that you are registered, or
- after we send you your study material (whichever happens first).
To calculate the days, we exclude the first and include the last calendar day.
Problems with material
You must alert us within seven calendar days after you receive your study or online course material if it is inaccurate, damaged, marked or invalid.
You must cancel using the Cancellation Form
If you wish to cancel your studies, you must submit a cancellation form. The cancellation form can be found trust centre (https://www.sacob.com/trust-centre) or our Online Classroom. Otherwise, we will provide it to you on your request.
Deferment of studies
You have the option to defer your studies. Deferment refers to either or both of the following:
- scheduling us to deliver unissued study material at a later date, or
- placing access to the online programmes on hold.
You may defer your studies for six months if we determine that the reasons you provide us for deferment are valid. We will not refund you if you defer your studies.
If you require updated or new material as a result of your deferment, you will be liable for the cost of the new material.
We do not guarantee that programmes, courses, exams, assessments and live classes will be available upon the resumption of studies. You are responsible for consulting term calendars, class schedules, courses schedules, exam timetables and available positions prior to deferring studies and upon resuming studies.
SACOB online courses each receive a maximum of 12 months of digital access from activation on the student’s online profile. Access to the online course will automatically resume after the maximum deferment period (six months) or upon your written request (whichever occurs first).
All deferred online courses will not be awarded additional access time upon resuming studies nor will re-start the 12 months of access. The access time remaining on the online course access at the time of deferment will resume upon student request or after the six month deferment (whichever occurs first).
Non-refundable fees
If you cancel your studies (or programme) after the cancellation period:
- we will not refund any fees, and
- you will still be liable for the full debit order or payment agreement.
We will not refund the Online Classroom portion of fees if the Online Classroom or live classes have been accessed in any way. For example, if videos have been watched, a live class attended, or quizzes have been attempted.
We will not refund the study material portion of the fees if:
- seven calendar days have passed since we sent you the study material,
- the study material has been damaged,
- the study material has exceeded its validity period, or
- the study material has been marked.
We cannot refund any international or foreign student payments.
No refunds will be provided to you if you cannot attend one or more of the scheduled classes.
Once we pay over your exam registration and exam fees, we cannot refund it and you cannot use it for an alternative examination date.
Refunds if we have NOT already sent the study material
If you cancel your studies (or programme) within the cancellation period and we have not sent you your study material, we will refund you for the study material.
We will refund you the programme fee but you must pay a 10% cancellation fee. We always calculate the cancellation fee on the full programme fee before we take subsidies or promotions into account. You may pay this cancellation fee or we can deduct it from any refundable amount.
Refunds if we have already sent the study material
If you cancel your studies (or programme) within the cancellation period but we have already sent your study material, there are consequences.
We will refund you the programme fee but you must pay us a 15% cancellation fee. We always calculate the cancellation fee on the full programme fee before we take subsidies or promotions into account.
You must send the study material back to SACOB and pay the costs of couriering it back to us.
We will only refund you the programme fee if you return the study material in good condition. We are not liable for damages caused during the return delivery or by the cancelling student.
Refund process
We will pay refunds to the account payer at the end of the calendar month in which you cancel if you have submitted the appropriate forms and documentation at least three working days prior to the end of the month.
Termination of enrolment by SACOB
SACOB may terminate your registration if you breach our terms or policies. If we terminate your registration, you are liable for all amounts due to SACOB. Any amounts for services we have rendered or goods you have ordered before termination will become due, even if we have not invoiced you for them.
Withholding fees
You may not withhold payment due to us for any reason. You may not disrupt or cancel registered debit orders. We reserve the right to withhold registration, transcripts, application outcomes, registrations, verification of registration, verification checks for prospective or current employers and certificates for any programme should there be outstanding fees of any variation on your account.
No transfer of obligations
You may not delegate your payment duties to or assign your rights under our terms to another person, without our prior written consent. We may assign our agreement to any successor or purchaser of our business or assets.
